This eponymous company is owned by Magnus Skogsberg and Mimmi Smart who, with over 30 years of combined creative experience in the advertising- and media field established Skogsberg & Smart to channel their own ingenuity.
Which Skogsberg & Smart Collections does THE One carry?
THE Boule collection:
The optical bubbles in the Boule collection create a beautiful shimmering light with a cool 70s feel. The bubbles are created in a cast iron mould and then applied by hand, giving each piece its own unique pattern and luxuriously heavy feel.
Boule hurricane lanterns are also perfect as vases for your flower arrangements or mix with other items from our Boule or Skogsberg & Smart for an eclectic mix.
As a hurricane / candle lantern Boule gives with its optical bubbles a shimmering light and a luxurious weight. All hurricanes / candle lanterns bear traces of craftsmanship, which makes each candle lantern completely unique. They are also perfect as vases for your flower arrangements.

THE Crystal collection:
THE Crystal collection of hurricanes is Skogsberg & Smart’s most exclusive range made from 100% Bohemian crystal. With its deep irregular cuts, this collection is a modern and playful evolution of traditional, symmetrical vintage crystal design. These Hurricane Crystal lanterns are just as suitable as vases for flower arrangements.
THE Classic collection:
The hurricanes in THE Classic collection are mouth-blown and hand-painted in transparent metallic colours, which makes each lantern unique. The reflective surface layer is just as beautifully shimmering during the day as it is at night. These lanterns are also beautiful as a vase for your blooms.
THE Spritz collection:
THE Spritz collection is created by using an ancient, traditional craft technique. The hot glass mass is pressed into a unique metal mould and then soda is added. Small air bubbles form inside the glass mass, almost like magic, and it is the air bubbles that form this distinctive pattern. On the edge of the hurricane, you can feel an imprint of the bubbles, almost like a fossil or a fingerprint. Each lantern thus gets its own character.
These hurricane lanterns are also perfect as vases for your flower arrangements or pair them with other items from our Skogsberg & Smart for an eclectic mix.
How do I care for my Skogsberg & Smart collection?
Crystal and glass are fragile, so extra care is needed when cleaning these beautiful handmade pieces of art.
Wash the inside carefully with a soft sponge in lukewarm water using a mild detergent. Never wash in a dishwasher. To clean the outside, use a soft micro fibre cloth. When washing, only wash with a soft sponge in lukewarm water using a mild detergent. To remove wax from the inside, fill your hurricane half with lukewarm water and let it soak for 10 mins so the candle wax will get warm and will be easier to remove. Once removed rinse in tepid water and rack dry or use a clean dry microfibre cloth.
Don´t brush hard on in- or outside with any type of cleaning tools! Avoid using sharp objects, chemicals or extensive polishing as it may harm the finish. Do not expose Skogsberg & Smart products to extreme temperature changes.
Hurricane care:
You can wipe the outside with a clean microfibre cloth. Inside only wash with a soft sponge in lukewarm water using a mild detergent. To remove wax from inside, fill your hurricane half with lukewarm water and let it soak for 10 mins so the candle wax will get warm and will be easier to remove. Once removed rinse in tepid water and rack dry or use a clean, dry microfibre soft cloth to dry.
Plateau / candle plate care:
When used as a candle tray, we recommend using three paraffin wax pillar candles with a diameter of 70-80mm, for a beautiful trio display. Do not use candles smaller than 70 mm in diameter, as the handmade surface risks not providing enough stability.
Never let block candles burn all the way down to the glass surface and never move the Boule candle plate with burning candles.
To clean wipe with a clean microfibre cloth or wash with a soft sponge in lukewarm water using a mild detergent. To remove wax, soak the plateau in lukewarm water and let it soak for 10 mins so the candle wax will get warm and will be easier to remove. What candles do you recommend I use for my Skogsberg & Smart hurricane lamp / lantern?
For all candle lanterns, we recommend our flameless candles, or THE One pillar candles as these have a higher melting point and is better suited in semi-closed environments. Depending on the light you use and the heat in your surroundings, candle wax can sometimes drip down the side of the candle and collect at the bottom of the lantern. This is natural and will not damage your lantern. For our lanterns / hurricanes - use a standard tealight up to 5 cm in diameter.
Do not move your candle lantern when it is lit. Glass is a living material and when heated should not be moved. If you place your candle lantern on a slippery surface, stick small self-adhesive small adhesive pads under the lantern.

When used as a candle tray, we recommend our flameless candles or THE One pillar candles with a diameter of 70-80mm. Please do not use candles smaller than 70 mm in diameter, as the handmade surface of the plate risks not providing enough stability.
